Life is full of unexpected twists and turns in which the wandering of a person with dementia can change to tragedy (or can become a potential tragedy). MedicAlert and Dementia SA aim to ensure that you're loved one with Alzheimer's disease or another dementia can safely be returned to you. You as a carer can also be registered and by wearing a carer's bracelet can therefore alter or inform others, in an emergency, that you are the caregiver of the person suffering from dementia.

In an emergency having your medical conditions engraved on your bracelet (and also recorded on our database) doctors and other medical professionals are forewarned of your medical condition (including allergies) which helps to prevent mistakes in treatment in an emergency thereby preventing mistake.
Joining MedicAlert & Dementia SA
Your MedicAlert membership provides you with an engraved plaque/emblem listing your medic alert number and medical alert number and medical conditions and enabling access to your medical records, via the medic alert database.
The cost of joining is R175, which includes all services and your first year's subscription. An annual fee of R49 is charged to maintain a 24 hour hotline service and updating of your records when necessary.
On joining MedicAlert new as well as existing member of Dementia SA will enjoy reduced membership fee for the year. They will also receive a gift and essential information and helpful tips to assist in the event that your loved one is found to be wandering.
